Work AreaThe area of operation of society shall be at National Capital Territory Region (NCR).
Aims and objectives: The Association shall function to achieve the following objects subject to the policies and programmes adopted by the Governing Council / Executive Committee from time to time.

Aims and Objectives

  • To organize and unite all persons employed as Engineers in CRIS and to develop camaraderie and harmony amongst them.
  • To initiate and promote welfare activities for benefits of all engineers of CRIS.
  • To affiliate or federate or confederate all the Association and /or Federations of engineers/officers of other Public Sector, Private Sector and Co- operative Sector.
  • To uphold the constitution and safeguard the interests of all employees of CRIS by adopting peaceful means and methods to achieve their legitimate rights.
  • To do all that is necessary and possible through legitimate means, for raising the standard of life, efficiency and knowledge to secure health, well being, career, happiness and to promote and safeguard the interests, rights and privileges of the engineers of CRIS .
  • To encourage thrift and co-operation amongst members and to that end promote co-operative societies.
  • To edit and publish books, periodical(s), voicing among other matters, grievances of the engineers and containing matters of interest to them, for circulation amongst all the engineers of CRIS
  • To raise funds, borrow money from banks or others secured by a mortgage on the property of the Association or otherwise or to raise clean loans or deposits unsecured.
  • To own, acquire, purchase, sell or lease, property including immovable property for carrying on the activities of the Association.
  • To invest the money of the Association not immediately require in such investments as may from time to time be determined.
  • To draw, make, accept, endorse and negotiate cheques, promissory notes, bills of exchange, hundies and other negotiable instruments in pursuance of the objects of the Association.
  • To do all such other things as are necessary to further the objectives of the Association and/or its affiliates or members:
  • To provide assistance , financial or otherwise for consolidation, managerial and professional and also to make grants to any professional or other fraternal organization having same or similar objectives.
  • To establish run, manage and administer on its own or in collaboration with other association, institution and more particularly institution for manpower development and research and for enhancing professional skills of the engineers and also to provide financial assistance for similar endeavour and activities.
  • All the income, earnings, movable/immovable properties of the society shall be solely utilized and applied towards the promotion of its aims and objects only as set forth in memorandum of the society and no profit thereof shall be paid or transferred directly or indirectly by way of dividends, bonus, profit or in any manner whatsoever to the society or make any profits, whatsoever, by virtue of this membership.
  • No member of society shall have any personal claim on any movable or immovable properties of the society or make any profit, whatsoever by virtue of his membership.
Name of the Society Name of the society shall be “CRIS Engineers Welfare Association (CEWA)” Hereinafter referred to as the “society”. The registered office of society shall be situated at- H. NO. F-16, Milap Nagar, Uttam Nagar, New Delhi - 110059
Membership Definition Any person who has been taken in the society as per clause (III) and (IV) below shall be known as member of the society
Admission & Qualification of Membership

The membership of the society is open to any person

  • Who has attained the age of majority
  • Who has not been adjudged as insolvent
  • Who is of sound mind
  • Who has not been detained for any offence involving moral turpitude
  • And fulfills the terms and conditions of the society
  • Who is employed as Engineer in CRIS
However the membership shall be subject to the approval of the Governing Body of the society
Subscription of the Membership

The society shall consist of the following categories of members

  • (a) General/Ordinary Member -Rs. 300/- per annum
  • (b) Honorary member- NIL
  • (c) Associate member –Rs.600/- per annum
  • (d) Life member –Rs. 15,000/- for life
Note: - if the membership is not approved by the Governing Body of the society the reason of refusal shall be communicated to the person/applicant concerned.
Appeal and re-admission of membership
  • (a) Re-Admission

    In case, any member of the society is expelled by the governing body on the reason of non-payment of the subscription, he can be readmitted, provided the member concerned pays all up to date dues with the permission of the Governing Body.

  • (b) Appeals

    All the appeal shall be preferred to the general body of the society and the decision of the general body shall be final

Rights and Privileges of Membership

All associate, life members and honorary members if called upon by the governing body of the society

  • (a) Shall be entitled to participate in meetings, cultural/education functions and other lawful gatherings, called/arranged by the society
  • (b) Shall be entitled to an identity card after depositing the required/prescribed fee (fixed by the Governing Body).However, on the decision of Governing Body identity card may also be issued to the ordinary member of the society. Shall be entitled to inspect the record of the society with the prior approval of Governing Body. Also have the right to vote at the meeting of the society
Termination, Cessation or Forfeiture of Membership

The governing body of the society shall have the powers to expel/terminate a member or/and members from the membership of the above society, on the following grounds

  • a) On his/her death
  • b) On written resignation
  • c) If found to be involved in any anti-social activities
  • d) If adjudged by any court of law to be a criminal offender
  • e) If member works against the aims and objects of the society
  • f) If he fails to pay the subscription of contribution for three months
  • g) If he has not attended three consecutive meeting
  • h) If he disregards rules and regulations or disobeys the decisions of the Governing Body
General body defined Only associate and life members of the society will constitute the General Body of the society
Power and Duties/Functions of the General Body

All and every member of the society shall

  • a) Elect the Governing Body of the society
  • b) Attend the General Body of the society
  • c) Give the necessary information to the society, pertaining to matter which is necessary to be known by the society
  • d) Not indulge in activities which are prejudicial to the Aims and Objects and/or the Rules and Regulations of the society
Notice of meeting and periodicity of meeting
  • a) Notice-Minimum 15 days’ notice shall be given to the members, before the date of General Body, meeting and enclosing agenda specifying Date, Time, Place and issues to be discussed
  • b) Meeting-General Body Meeting shall be held once in every year regularly
  • c) Quorum- The quorum of General Body Meeting Shall be 51% of the total strength of the General Body members of the society
Governing Body
  • i. Governing Body defined: All the members of the society who are holding any executive posts and executive members shall be known as the Governing Body of the society
  • ii. Minimum seven and maximum strength including office bearers will be twenty one
  • iii. Composition of the Governing body

The composition of the governing body shall be as under

  • President (1)
  • Senior Vice President (1)
  • Vice President (1)
  • Gen. Secretary (1)
  • Joint Secretary (1)
  • Treasurer (1)
  • Joint Treasurer (1)
  • EC Member (4)
Election and Its Mode The officers shall be elected by Ballot. The governing body shall elect its office bearers in the Annual General Body Meeting once in three years. The secret ballot paper or rising of hands shall be the mode of election. A notice of 15 days to be given to the members for calling AGM for conducting the election of the association
Term of the office of the governing Body Term of every Governing Body shall be three years
Power and duties of the office bearers Term of every Governing Body shall be three years. VI. Power and duties of the office bearers: - Governing Body shall be responsible for the management and administration of all affairs of the society and in these rules and regulations Powers of Governing Body
